"FoodForDays" began in September 2010 when Mr. John Saunders, a Pastor, learned that "local kids were returning to school on Monday with bellyaches because they had not eaten since Friday".
(John shared that spark of a vision with his church and a team quickly caught fire for it at First Baptist of Mooresville.)
At its infancy, the ministry began feeding kids in one school with a handful of volunteers shopping for and storing food for ten backpack meals each week.
By 2012, the backpack meals ministry grew to include eight church partners, over a dozen schools across two districts with local business support together providing nearly 250 student backpack meals each week.
2012 brought some exciting additions. A board of directors, office space, an Executive Director along with the amazing goal of feeding all the needy students in Iredell County.
That year we also obtained the 501c3 nonprofit designation as "Food for Days: A Backpack Meals Ministry".
In 2015, over 77,000+ back meals were provided for up to 400+ needy kids in 14 local schools.
And the story continues with your help. . .
