There are many different ways that you can serve your community. If you would like the chance to give something back or help those in need in the Iredell County, North Carolina area, there are many volunteer organizations that would love to put you to good use! Here at Food For Days, we are one of the volunteer organizations in the area that could use your help.
Our volunteers are hard at work every day helping to ensure that children from families with food insecurity are able to have meals over the weekend. Many children rely on food that they get from schools for a good portion of their meals, but when school is not in session, sometimes these children simply go without. Here at Food For Days, we are a volunteer organization that wanted to help children get meals during these times so that they can arrive back to school on Monday ready to learn.
Helping local children keep their bellies full since 2011!
What was once a small project run by one local pastor has grown into a volunteer organization that helps in over 17 schools in Iredell County. Vetted by school counselors, meals are sent home to children in need on Friday to ensure that a child doesn’t need to go hungry. We rely on our volunteers to shop for the meals, assemble them, deliver them to the schools, and in so many other helpful capacities.
