Meet our Team

“Miss Ferro can I bring the bag home today we don’t have any food at home right now?”

It was a big eye opener for our staff of how many kids live for that bag on Friday and how it changes their outlook and frees them to focus on learning.

“I was at the school delivering the meals when a Mom came up to me and said “I really appreciate you guys doing this because my child gets one.”

When you hear that, you know you are having a big impact!”

“I knew I was meant to be part of Food For Days”

Married 15 years to my super husband Jack, a full time Mom investing in three amazing teenagers and all after working 15 years in finance in New York City.

I have been a resident of Mooresville for over 11 years and love Tennis and Reading.

Been involved with Food For Days since 2013, first on the Advisory Board and then as the VP of the Executive Board.

I first learned about FFD after reading an article about John Saunders in the local paper. I immediately reachout out to John and was so inspired by the ministry that I knew this was where I was meant to be.

I hope you will join me in serving these desperate children that struggle with lack of food many weekends throughout the school year.

I am a native of Statesville, NC, born and raised by the late Doris Wilson and George Wilson, Jr and a graduate of Statesville High School in 1984 and from Western Carolina University in 1988 with a BS degree in Social Work.

I work as a School Social Worker and District Homeless Liaison for Iredell Statesville Schools where I manage the process that identifies homeless children and youth. (I have served as a social worker for the past 26 years.)

I was turned toward the Food For Days ministry by seeing first hand the needs of students and witnessing the impact of the ministry in their lives. Please join me in this terrible fight against hunger.

I am originally from Kentucky and have been in North Carolina for 33 years, married to Eddie Sidden for 27 years and have two teenage daughters Ashley and Alana-Lee. We have been blessed to be active members at First Baptist Church for 25 years.

As an agent with Farm Bureau Insurance I have had the opportunity to serve Farm Bureau members for 19 years.

I enjoy giving back to our community which is one of the many reasons I am committed to Food For Days Back Pack Meals Ministry.

You can be their Superhero in so many ways.

Ask me how.

Executive Director

Karen has a background in education and over 10 years experience working in nonprofit work.

She started working with Food For Days as Executive Administrator in December 2013 and became Director in March 2015.

“While collecting food from one of our collection sites a gentleman approached me and shared that his two girls were two of the first 10 to receive weekend meal bags at a very difficult time in his life. He was so appreciative.”

This is why I do what I do.

John was the man through which Christ led to begin this ministry along with other Christ followers at First Baptist Church of Mooresville, NC.

Hearts were caught with:

“Did you know…
local kids are returning to school on Monday with bellyaches because they haven’t eaten since Friday?”

Through John, repeated weekend child hunger could not go unaddressed. So the ministry went from one school to every school within the Mooresville Graded system being served in just six years or so.
